The May meeting will be on the third Thursday, the 16th at 6:00 pm. We are going to try some fabric marbleing with shaving cream and fabric paints. Jackie will demontrate. If you would like to try it, bring a piece of 'prepared for dying' fabric or some thats been prewashed thoroughly and is free of sizing, etc.
Also, be sure to bring any outstanding round robin pieces you still have or drop them off at Susan's ahead of the meeting. The challenge is over this week and we will be unveiling all of them.
At the April 25 meeting Jackie Cory will show us how to make dolls, small stuffed ones we can embellish. There is a sample doll at Hyder Hangout and some inspiring examples in the Quiling Arts magazines of Winter 2004, Summer 05, and Fall 05. Jackie has patterns for us and some stuffing but you need to bring fabric for the dolls body and any embellishments you like. Be sure to check back to be sure of the date as sometimes we meet on the 3rd Thursday. Also check out the Challenges page because there is a new challenge and a deadline for the old one.
The February meeting has been rescheduled for the 4th Thursday. At the February 28 meeting we will be learning about the native american medicine wheel from Falling Waters. She will show us how to incorporate it into fabric.
We will open with a very brief business meeting to discuss publicity, etc. Don't forget to bring the piece you are working on of someone else's, for our surface design non-traditional round robin challenge. Click on 'Challenges' link above for more info.
For March 21, I (Karen Young) will discuss various methods for getting images from your computer to fabric, including printing with an inkjet printer and creating your own design and having it printed online. No need to bring anything.
Please check back between now and then to be sure of the date, because sometimes we meet on the 4th Thursday.
