At the April meeting, Jackie gave everyone a pattern to create a small stuffed doll to embellish. We didnt actually work on these at the meeting, but participants can show their doll at the August meeting.
Jackie also showed her fabric she ordered from Spoonflower. Hers was a scan of a paper collage.
At the March meeting we talked about how to transfer photos to fabric using various methods. We also discussed having photos printed on fabric via online services. Karen sent an altered photo to ''spoonflower.com" and used the mirror option there to have her photo printed on a yard of fabric with a kaleidoscopic effect.
At the February 2013 meeting Falling Waters showed us how to make a medicine wheel from fabric.
At the December meeting we explored felting. We experimented with various hand tools and wool in various stages of refinement.
Susan has several tools and supplies for those who want to take this further.
At the November 2012 meeting, Susan Hyder showed us how to use fusible thread. She put it in her bobbin and used clear polyester (not nylon) on the top. She sewed her applique down, then ironed the piece face up. The fusible thread melted and fused the design to the background and allowed the top polyester thread to be easily removed. This is a less bulky way of fusing, leaving the fabric softer than regular fusible web. Hyderhangout carries the fusible thread.
At the October meeting Jackie Cory demonstrated fabric scrunching. I believe fusible interfacing was used for that; more info to follow,

At the Sept. 2012 meeting, Karen demonstrated how to batik with the tjanting, step by step. Some expressed interest in a class, so that may be on the horizon. Anyone interested please contact Susan at the shop or Karen and we'll find a date for it.
At the August meeting Ana showed us how to do fused applique usomg 606 fusible spray on paper napkin motifs. See 'flower pot' table runner above.
At the July 2012 meeting we revisited 'rusting' fabric with ferrous sulfate, caustic soda, and tea. We made a mess and had a good time.
The June meeting was canceled due to lack of attendees.

On May 2012, we experimented with Rit Color Remover. Ginger had the best luck; her fabrics bleached more readily than some of the others'. We wet the fabric, scrunched or folded it in a shallow pan, and sprinkled the remover on top. It didn't take long to get results. (more photos below)
